Coupang Quick Flex - Box Truck(Top Cha) vs Starex

In other to do the Coupang Quick Flex, you must have a delivery vehicle and purchase a Box Truck(called it by "top Cha" from Korean) or Starex.

It is said, Staria is also possible, but I have not handled this myself so I omit it from this content.

 

For those who are new to Coupang Quick Flex, we would like to organize each vehicle in more detail as below.

Pleae note in advance, the advantage and disadvantage listed below are those of Box truck compared to Starex and those of Starex compared to Box truck.

 

1. Box Truck(called it by "top Cha" from Korean)

When it comes to delivery vehicle, everyone thinks of Box Truck (Top Cha).

Most general couriers use this truck and many people think of this trucks as delivery vehicles.

So, when Box truck parks/stops, we often think, 'Oh, it's doing delivery!'.

 

Coupang Quick Flex prefers the Box Truck, but this is not always the very answer.

 

Below, I list the advantage and disadvantage to help you choose;

1) Advantage of Box Truck

- Loading compartment is square and straight. Square shape of loading box is well angled, makig loading easy.

- Loads larger amount of delivered goods (compared to Starex).

In the case of regular sized Box truck, the same volume can be loaded by 30~50% more.

Of course, low sized one is an exception.

-Anyone at the delivery location will be able to recognize it as a courier truck.

Therefore, the security office always opens the door well, and even if it blocks the road, residents may wait for a while.

2) Disadvantage of Box Truck

- It is difficult to predict the real visibility and rear clearance of a vehicle compare to Starex.

Blind spots are also relatively wide.

- There is high possibililty of getting caught on the roots of low-height buildings, awnings of parasol-shaped ceilings and protruding structures of various buildings.

For those who are driving a truck for the first time, possibility of an accident is very high, and even experienced drivers sometimes make mistakes and cause accidents.

- In the case of recenlty built apartment, the height is raised to allow access of the underground parking lot.

But in older apartment, it is often impossible to access the underground parking lot.

Therefore, if the router to be assigned is an apartment, you must check whether it is possible to access the underground parking lot of the truck.

- Also, in the case of officetels, if the building does not allow truck to enter, you must park/stop on the roadside.

 

2. Starex

As mentioned above, General Courier services use the Box truck to deliver.

However, Coupang Quick Flex can also be delivered via Starex (or Staria).

But there must be 3 bans. In other words, it must be a vehicle that can seat 3 (three) people (5 bans, i.e., vehicle that cadn seat 5 people is prohibited).

 

1) Advantage of Starex

- Anyone who can drive can easily and quickly adopt to driving.

- You can enter underground parking lot of any building such as apartment or officetel.

- You can park/stop anywhere regular vehicle can park, including not only underground parking lots but also most covered parking lots of piloti parking lots.

- It is convenient becaduse the door can be opened from three sides ; left, right and back.

- Trunk opens upwards so even on rainy days, it is relatively easy to find and remove goods without getting caught in the rain.

 

2) Disadvantage of Starex

- A small amount of delivery goods can be loaded (relatively compared to the Box Truck).

- So, on days when there is a lot of order, sometimes have to worry about loading all.

When large sized goods (commonly referred to as 'poop luggage') is brought out, it makes you wonder whether to load it in the first time or second time.

This is because you can't load a lot of other goods due to this sized goods.

On the other hand, with Box truck, if you have large sized goods, you can just put it away in a corner of the cargo compartment.

- If you want a large quantity, Starex may have lower priority (compared to the Box truck).

When hiring router driver in area with high volume, Box truck is often preferred over Starex.

Also, when hiring the driver working daytime, don't really like Starex. This is because it is not easy to carry because there are many large sized goods.

- Loading compartment is not square like Box truck.

Rear part of the compartment and the trunk have a slight slope and the upper part of rear wheels is raised so the angles is not right when loading and some space is left for discarding.

- When going up to organize the loading goods, have to bend back and fold knees, so going up and down causes pain in back and knees.

- If you don't open up the trunk, people often don't recognize it as a truck.

Even if you are locking the road, you must open the trunk up to recognize that it is a delivery vehicle.

 

In conclusion;

Whether to use a Box Truck (Top Cha) or a Starex should be decided based on your driving style and the style of the area(router) you need to deliver to.

However, once you purchase it, it will incur additional costs to change it agin,
